Memorisation
Spaced repetition for hifz, and why a lapse does not reset you.
How reviews are scheduled
Ayahs you are memorising come back on a widening schedule: a day after the first successful recall, six days after the second, and progressively longer intervals after that. Recall it easily and the interval grows faster; find it hard and it grows more slowly.
When you forget one
A lapse halves the interval rather than resetting it. Forgetting a word of an ayah you have held for months should not put it back beside one you met this morning — you will see it tomorrow, but the months are not discarded.
This is a deliberate departure from the textbook algorithm, which resets to zero. Over years of memorisation the textbook behaviour is discouraging out of proportion to the mistake.
